Yes, Chanel tweed sets have always been in, but not until this Spring did they start appearing at your favorite fast fashion brands. They seem to be everywhere, in music videos, on fashion bloggers and of course the runways. What revived the tweed set trend is undeniably the Chanel Spring/Summer 2018 fashion show. The fashion show was truly iconic set at the Grand Palais where Karl Lagerfeld actually managed to miraculously bring the waterfalls of the Gorges du Verdon. Although, the classic Chanel sets have always been iconic, now they’re really popular among younger generations and not so conservative as they’ve been. It is probably because of how Lagerfeld styled the models at the Spring/Summer 2018 fashion show. The tweed sets were worn with plastic over-the-knee boots, plastic hats and plastic capes and raincoats. The outfits were also accessorized with amazing tweed classic Chanel bags, Chanel Boy bags and tiny sphere-like bags. Lagerfeld really added a youthful look to the classic Chanel. He perfectly intertwines the classic Chanel with what is current and on trend for both the younger and older generations.
What also gave the rise to the Chanel tweed sets is the return of the 90s fashion. The 90s Chanel was marked with tweed mini skirts paired with cropped jackets, layered with chain belts and big jewelry. Worn by the biggest supermodels of the time, Chanel was at it’s peak in the 90s. Maybe it’s our sentimentality towards the 90s that brought this iconic trend back. Who wouldn’t wanna look like a 90s supermodel?
Here are some of my favorite looks I’ve seen recently:
- Fashion Blogger Aimee Song
2. Rap Queen, Cardi B
3. Supermodel, Suki Waterhouse
4. Youtuber and model, Amanda Steele
If you want to give this trend a try and don’t have the Chanel budget, there are many cheaper options. Her are just some of my favorites:
